In celebration of this season of giving, we’ve compiled a list of local organizations where individuals, groups, or families can give back throughout the D.C. area. Whether you’re looking to volunteer, collect food, run a race, or donate, there is something for everyone to show gratitude this holiday season!
Have another charity or organization you’d like us to promote? Let us know and we’d love to share it!
- Turkey Chase Charity Race – Support tons of kids right in our backyard by joining the 42nd annual Turkey Chase, supporting the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase and the Bethesda Chevy Chase Rotary. Register and learn more here.
- So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E.) – Help serve meals, pack food boxes, or donate food items. S.O.M.E. also collects wrapped shoeboxes with essentials for children and adults through the holiday season. Learn more here!
- Martha’s Table – Help prepare and serve meals, pack food, or assist with holiday events. Click here to visit the organization’s volunteer page to learn more.

- Food & Friends – Deliver nutritious meals to those battling serious illnesses in the DMV. Please note, new volunteers must complete a new volunteer orientation! Sign-up or register for orientation here.
- Capital Area Food Bank – Donate needed food items, or explore a variety of other ways to help including sorting and packing food as well as deliveries. More information here.
