Washington Business Journal reports that Steve Salis, owner of Kramerbooks and Federalist Pig and co-founder of &pizza, and John Thompson, principal at EHD Design Build Group, have come together to create Prefab Partners (PFP), a development company that will bring new homes to the Palisades neighborhood of D.C. that are built in part by robots. PFP will work with Baltimore-based Blueprint Robotics to make structural panels for the homes in climate-controlled factories. The use of aerospace robotic technology makes the building process more efficient, thereby bringing down construction costs. After the robot-built walls, floors, and roof are in place, windows, doors, plumbing, electricity, and insulation are added. Next, the home’s components are shipped to the property, and assembly is complete over the course of a few days.
PFP’s homes are located at 1516 & 1522 Foxhall Road NW and will list for $1.995 million when they hit the market in early 2018.
